Last week, we discussed the downhill lie, so we go high and discuss the uphill lie shot today.

The ball is played off the front foot with an uphill lie to go higher. And because I am adding loft, it will also not go as far.  I will need more club than normal.

This is one of the few shots where there is no weight shift.  So the lead hip will tend to spin out, and you will pull the ball.  So aim well to the right.

Ball Position.

Play the ball off the front foot and have the ball slightly more forward than normal.

Alignment.

Aim well to the right (for right-handed golfers) as the hips will spin out, causing a pull.

Weight Distribution.

This is one of the very few shots in golf where there is no weight shift! The weight stays on the back foot through impact.  If you shifted the weight, the body would rise, and you would top the ball.

Key points to remember are ball position, alignment, and weight distribution.  Get these right, and you will play these shots with ease!
