Having a good short game will pay dividends in lowering your score.  We see this week in and week out as we watch the professionals compete in weekly competitions.  There are several players on tour that have pretty mediocre long games. But they make a great living playing golf because of a great short game.  Add another shot to your growing repertoire of shots learned at the Mel Sole Golf School.

The Method.

Make sure your ball position is off your highest foot, and your weight is positioned on your lowest foot on A Pitch from an uphill lie and over a bunker!.  On an uphill lie, your ball position would be forward and your weight on your back foot.  Keep your weight on the back foot throughout the shot. Any attempt to move the weight forward will cause a topped shot.

The big key here is not to try and lift the ball.  Allow the loft of the club to do the work. Allow your arms to extend away from your body through the shot.  Any attempt to "scoop" the shot into the air will probably cause you to hit behind the ball or "blade" the ball over the green.  Spend some time on the range to feel how hard you have to swing to make the ball go the distance you desire.  Feel is nothing anyone can teach you.  Feel is developed.  The more you practice this uphill lie shot, the more likely you will play this shot successfully on the golf course.
