Today David Olberding discusses what club you want to use when you have an uphill lie in the fairway and how to hit that shot properly.

There are a few factors to be taken into account before you play an uphill lie.

You are going to add loft to the club, so take at least one more club.  Two more if the slope is severe.  There is no weight shift on this shot.  It is one of the few shots on golf where the weight stays on the back foot.  Because of that, there is a tendency to pull the ball, so aim to the right of the intended target!

Set the body at the address position with the shoulders parallel to the ground and the spine angle perpendicular to the ground.  This will help to give a nice clean contact with the ball!

The clubhead path is a slightly ascending blow.  This will make the ball go very high.  Allow for an extra club to reach your target.
