Today we discuss taking all the trouble out of each golf shot you hit on the course.
Always ask yourself the question, "Where do I NOT want to go?" It does not matter whether the shot is a drive, an iron shot, a chip, a bunker shot, or a putt. There is always a right line and a wrong line. Err on the side of caution! If there is a hazard or out of bounds on a particular side of a hole - don't go there! Even if you miss in the rough or the trees on the opposite side. You can recover from the rough or the trees. You cannot recover from ut of bounds or a hazard!
When I first introduce this to my students, they look at me incredulously and ask, "Isn't that negative?" My answer is, "Yes, if it's the last question you ask yourself." But this must be the first question so you can make proper decisions after that!
Asking yourself the correct question just before you hit will help you make the correct decision and eliminate those shots that cost you bogeys or worse.
