The blog today is a soft high shot from thick rough to a fairly close pin location. Check it out!

When the ball is sitting down in the rough, and the flag is close, it is hard. But not an impossible shot!  With a little practice, you can master this shot.  And as I say in the video, I love practicing this shot, and it certainly has saved me a ton of shots over the years.

Take your normal chipping stance, open the clubface, and then take your grip.  Don't just open the clubface by rotating your hands. The 60-degree lob wedge is the best club for this, but you can get away with using a sand wedge.  Do a few practice swings nearby to feel the grass's texture and how hard you think you have to hit this.  Go ahead and play this by sliding the club under the ball.

The key here is to keep the club moving through the shot.  This is what I call a soft acceleration.  In other words, you are accelerating the club with very soft hands!  You're welcome!
