Hi, I’m Mel Sole, Director of Instruction at the Mel Sole Golf School, headquartered at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club in Pawleys Island, SC.  We conduct 1, 2, and 3-day golf schools, hourly golf lessons, and senior golf schools—any golf instruction program your heart desires. Give us a call at 800-624-4653 or 843-237-4993.  We will be happy to book a commuter school or a package that contains accommodations, golf, and golf school.

Continuing with our theme of "wind and rain,"  Mel Talks about the golf ball moving on the putting surface due to strong wind.  Do you replace the ball or play it as it lies?  Find out here.

If your ball moves because of the wind and is not by an outside agency like a person or an animal (like we have seen on the PGA Tour), there is no penalty, and you must play the ball as it lies.  If the ball blows further away from the hole, it is just bad luck!  Of course, if it blows closer to the hole, you benefit.

My suggestion is if the wind is blowing in a direction that would blow your ball away from the hole, make sure you mark it right away.  If the wind is blowing in the opposite direction, leave the ball and see if you get lucky.
