Today we discuss how to hit a knockdown or punch shot.  This shot is handy when playing in the wind or hitting a shot through a narrow opening.  The ball flight is low and penetrating and will tend to roll quite a bit.  Check how to master this shot right here!

First, take your normal stance, then move the ball back in your stance to slightly back of center.  Open your stance slightly. (pull your lead foot back) This helps clear the lead side really quickly to keep the hands ahead of the body at impact. Have a slightly shortened backswing and then drive really hard through the ball, keeping the body moving through the shot all the time.  This will create a low boring shot that is really handy in a strong wind or hold the ball in a strong crosswind. You will also need this shot sometimes when you try to play a low shot out of the trees, and you need to run a low shot down the fairway to get out of trouble!
