Secrets of a buried lie in the bunker!

This month we talk about the secrets of getting out of a buried lie in the bunker. Sounds hard? Not really. If you know the proper technique, you will be popping these balls out onto the green with relative ease!
The Club.
You can play this shot with either a sand wedge or a lob wedge. It does not really matter. Both have a fairly large clubface, which will make this shot a little easier. Also, both clubs have bounce, which is the flange at the club's bottom that prevents the club from digging. That is good for a regular bunker shot, but you need to remove the bounce for a buried lie.
The Technique.
To remove the bounce, you need to close the clubface. Yes, Close it! Let the clubface aim at your lead foot! As you swing the club through the sand, the toe of the club will strike the sand first, dig in, and then because of the soft grip pressure, the club will twist in your hand, square the clubface while it is under the ball, force the ball upwards, and the ball will come sailing out of the bunker! There will be a minimal spin on the ball, so make allowance for quite a lot of roll!
So there you have it. The Secrets of the buries lie in a bunker! Revealed! Now go and practice this shot to improve your short game!
