Most people seem to panic when they see they have a buried lie in the bunker. Once you have practiced this to build confidence in this shot, it is not difficult.
The Technique for the buried lie in the bunker.
Start by digging your feet into the sand. Feel the texture of the sand to know what to expect when you hit this shot. The softer the sand, the harder you have to swing. Soft sand disperses a lot faster than hard sand, which tends to stick together more and thus project the ball out much quicker and with more velocity. Hood the clubface at about a 45-degree angle so that the club's toe hits the sand first. This will cause a digging motion that will get the clubface under the ball. The big key here is the grip pressure. By keeping the grip pressure really soft, the clubface will twist in your hands as it enters the sand, squaring up the clubface. This allows the ball to come out of the sand directly to the flag.
If you are playing this shot from a level lie, the ball will come out with very little backspin and roll out quite a lot. When the ball is on an upslope, the ball will come out fairly high and will stop in a very short distance. So head to the practice bunker after watching this video and add another great shot to your golfing repertoire to lower your scores in the future!
