In our Golf Video Blog series,  David Olberding with the Mel Sole Golf School will be discussing a back stretching exercise that will help improve flexibility in the swing.

To improve your shoulder turn, get a long pole like a flagstick or broom handle. The longer the pole, the more leverage you will be able to create.

Get into your golf posture, and turn the shoulders at 90 degrees to your spine angle. Once you get to a point where you cannot turn any more, hold for 10 to 15 seconds, release and return to the address position, do the same on the other side.  Do 5 or 6 reps.  For rapid results, do these daily.  To add a dynamic routine, turn the shoulders back and forth in a rapid motion.  The more speed you can generate, the better.  This will start to get your muscles moving faster, and the speed will carry over to the golf course.  Speed is the key to more distance!
