Today we talk about the bump and run.  Use it in most circumstances when the grass is fairly short between you and the green.

Play the bump and run with a fairly straight-faced club.  Something like a 6 or 7 iron.  This allows the ball to jump forward when it hits the ground. Using a lofter club will tend to stop quickly if you land the ball short of the green.

This is a shot you can practice at home.  On your lawn, put down a golf scorecard and hold it down with a tee so the wind doesn't blow it away.  Practice landing the ball on the card to improve your ability to fly the ball at air-specific distances.  Vary the distance you stand from the card to really improve the feel!
