Today I will discuss what kind of golf shot to play when your golf ball is near the edge of a hazard that has a wall similar to Hole# 17 at TPC Sawgrass.  Home of The Players Championship.

A backhand shot is a precious shot to know.  It has helped me out on the golf course several times.  The key, and the reason you need to practice this shot, is knowing how hard to swing.  If I am up against a tree and I'm trying to advance the ball down the fairway as far as I can, then I can swing as hard as I can.  But in this case, I want the ball to go a particular distance.

If I had never practiced this shot before, I would have maybe miss-hit the shot and put it in the marsh or hit it too hard.  The ball would have gone over the green and again into the marsh!  So you can see the benefits of advanced knowledge when playing a shot like this.
