I discuss everything from 50 yards, and that will improve your handicap without changing your full swing! Using a great teaching aid called the wrist tactic, I can get feedback when I have an incorrect technique.

There are two key parts to good technique.

One.

There should be no breakdown of the lead wrist.  By making sure the handle moves at the same speed as the clubhead, you will prevent any breakdown.  Use a popsicle and put it between your glove and your watch.  If there is a breakdown, the popsicle will dig into your wrist, and you'll know you are not doing it correctly.

Two.

Keep the clubhead low through the impact area.  Allow the clubhead to loft the ball.  The chip shot is actually a slightly downward blow. The bottom of the arc should be just in front of the ball. Get into the habit of holding the follow-through to see if you can do this consistently.  Worth the hard work!

Try this out at home this winter!
