Weight shift problems affect many golfers and a loss of power and accuracy results.  Here are some simple drills that will make you understand how the body moves through the golf swing.  You will shift your weight quite easily!

The First Drill.

Stand with your feet apart and your arms extended out from your side.  Attempt to put the palm of your backhand onto the palm of your front hand without moving your hips.  You will find it next to impossible.  Turn your hips, and you will see that it is effortless.  

The Second Drill.

Stand in the same position and swing your backhand past your rear thigh.  Turn your hips and clap your hand together.  You are now standing with all your weight on your front foot. Extended your arms out in front of you.  Do this twenty times, three or four times a day.

The Third Drill.

Hold the club with your rear hand, and swing the grip past your rear thigh as you did earlier without the club.  Brush the ground with the clubhead and finish with the club fitting into the other hand.  Your weight is on your front foot, and your arms are extended fully in front of you.  At this time, the club should be pointed at the intended target.

Final Drill.

Do this drill on the practice tee.  Take the club back to about a 9 o clock position and swing through.  Put yourself into the same position you were doing with the previous drills.  You will feel a good weight shift and body rotation.  Do the 9 o clock drill for a while before using it with the full swing.  Hit the ball consistently in the middle of the clubface, and you now move to full swing.  Get into the habit of holding your follow-through.  Check that all your weight is on your front foot as you pose for the camera!
