Hi, I’m Mel Sole, Director of Instruction at the Mel Sole Golf School, headquartered at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club in Pawleys Island, SC.  We conduct 1, 2 and 3-day golf schools, hourly golf lessons, and senior golf schools.  Any type of golf instruction program your heart desires. Give us a call at 800-624-4653 or 843-237-4993.  We will be happy to book a commuter school or a package that contains accommodations, golf, and golf school.

Golf Blog by the Mel Sole Golf School.

Our guest today is Dr. Greg Rose, fitness guru to all of us golfers who want to get better by being stronger, more flexible and faster.  Greg explains some great stretching exercises for us senior golfers, to help get some of that lost distance back.

Log Rolling.

Rollover just like a baby.  10 times each side.

Curl Up.

Curl your back as yo raise up and stretch your arms towards your toes.  Imagine pushing blocks off the bottom of your legs.  Each stretch goes a little further.

Open Books.

Lay on your side with both arms extended out in front of you, palms touching.  Rollover keeping one arm on the ground and the other trying to touch the ground behind you.  Both sides 10 times.

Press Up.

Press up (almost like a push up) but keep your knees on the ground.  Then sag down so you have a rounded back.  Try and let your butt touch your heels, if possible.  If not, go as far as you can without pain. 10 Times.

Full Press Up.

Keeping your hips on the ground, push up with your arms, and really arch your back as much as you can.

Prone Rocking.

On all 4’s and rock back with your hands on the ground in front of you. Sit back on your heels and get a good back stretch.

Half Prayer.

With one arm outstretched in front of you and one hand behind your neck with elbow up to the sky, touch the elbow to the ground.  10 times both sides.

For the rest of this amazing Senior Stretching program, continue to watch the video.  I would suggest writing the titles of all the exercises as I did in the text of this article and try and do this every day.  Your golf game will thank you!
