Monthly Golf Tip by the Mel Sole Golf School.

This month we have our top female instructor Jenny Buchanan give us her tips on Alignment.

We all know the importance of the grip as a basic fundamental in the golf swing, but what about alignment? There are two parts to alignment, the body and the clubface.  Have either of these two things wrong, and you will struggle to hit the ball consistently towards your target. In the pictures below, Jenny Buchanan shows the importance of going Back to Basics, Part 2 Alignment. If you have not read Part 1, go here.

1. Alignment - Clubface: How do I set up square to my target?

The alignment of the clubface is crucial to controlling the direction of the golf ball.

Picture #2 shows a closed clubface:

2. Alignment - Body: Picture # 4 shows a square alignment - the hips, shoulders, and feet are parallel to the target line:

and Picture #5 shows a closed stance (to the left of parallel for a right-handed golfer):

and Picture #6 shows an open stance (to the left of parallel for a right-handed golfer):

Your position to the target line will strongly influence the starting direction of the golf ball.

Work diligently on the posture and then on both the clubface position and the body alignment, and you will see an almost immediate improvement in your overall scores.

Enjoy the results!
