Monthly Golf Tips by the Mel Sole Golf School.

This month's Mel in Motion video golf tip covers a putting drill you can do indoors at home. By focusing on posture and keeping your head still, you'll increase your putting accuracy and improve your short game noticeably.

Practicing.

Practicing your putting indoor can be very beneficial if you know what to work on.  The thing you don't want to work on indoors is long putts. This is because the floor (or carpet) has a completely different feel to a putting green.  But what you can work on is developing a great putting stroke.  When I am putting indoors, I use a putting mirror.  This mirror puts me in the same posture each time I see my eyes in the mirror and try to keep my eyes on the black line in the middle of the mirror. It also has two parallel red lines that help me move the putter straight back and straight through.

The Biggest thing to work on!

The biggest thing to work on is the putter face angle!  Work really hard on learning to keep the putter face 100% square to the intended line.  This far outweighs the putter head path in importance.  If there is one thing you achieve in this indoor session, it would be to hold your follow-through each time and make sure the putter face is square.  If you don't hold the follow-through, how are you going to know whether you kept the face square or not?

An indoor drill for better putting will make all the difference to your game this summer!
