Most of the golf tips online are about power!  That's because I don't know of a golfer alive who does not want to hit it far.  However, far into the woods still does not help your scorecard.  So straight with power is closer to what you are looking for.  Here Piers Ward and Andy Proudman of Meandmygolf explain the "slot" and "swing plane" and how these two things can help you hit it much straighter!

Swing plane.

Suppose you imagine a huge pane of glass with a hole the size of a soccer ball approximately in the middle.  Put your head through the hole, and lay the glass on your shoulders.  This represents the swing plane.  At the top of the backswing, your lead forearm should rest against the plane of glass.  Now you are said to be "on plane."

The Slot.

Keeping the pane of glass on your shoulders, start the downswing by dropping the arms slightly below the pane.  You are now in "the slot."  The shaft angle on the downswing is below the shaft angle on the backswing.
