Today David Olberding will discuss how to get the correct wrist hinge on a pitch shot using the Swingyde Training Aid!

During the pitch shot, an early wrist hinge is necessary for 2 reasons.

  1. Particularly on a 7 o clock pitch, there would not be enough to develop the clubhead speed to propel the ball to the necessary yardage.  The more wrist hinge you have, the further the clubhead will be away from the ball.
  2. A good wrist hinge will produce a steeper angle of attack on the downswing, giving the shot a more solid hit!

The Swing Gyde training aid definitely helps give the correct feel of the proper wrist hinge.

The practice is needed to understand and feel the correct wrist hinge. Do not try this on the course before you have had time to work on this on the range.  Get comfortable with the motion and trust the distance you are going to hit the ball. Confidence is built by repetition.  So do your reps on the range and then transfer to the course.
