Today David Olberding, Class A PGA Instructor with the Mel Sole Golf School, will discuss how to get the proper release after impact to hit your golf ball more accurately and eliminate that dreaded block to the right!

Impact Bag.

Using an impact bag, get the feel of hitting the bag with the toe of the club. Start slowly and see the toe pass the heel through impact.  If you do not have an impact bag, use a golf bag or even a cardboard box.  Anything that you would place about 3 feet in front of the ball to get the toe turning over and touching (the bag or box) just after impact.

Do this several times without a ball.  Then have a ball close by and go into your address position with the ball and hit another small swing, feeling the toe turn over through impact.  If you cannot hit the ball straight with the small swing, stay with it until you can.  Once you have the feeling, try to make the same motion with a full swing.  Shots off to the right will be a thing of the past!
