Today I will discuss using the Clock Drill to execute a pitch shot for precise distance control.  A great way to save shots from 60 yards and in!

Most PGA Tour players play their shots by feel.  They are playing every day and so can develop a great touch around the green.  However, most amateurs play once a week and practice even less than that.  So feel is something they do not have.  I have developed a clock system that can have most amateurs controlling their distances in a short time.

My 7 o clock shot goes 30 yards, 8 o clock 40, 9 o clock 50.  What you need to do is hit about 10 9 o clock shots and pace off to the middle of that group of balls.  Once you have that yardage, you can work on your 8 o clock shot and see if you can hit that about 10 yards shorter than your 9 o clock.  Your 7 o clock would go about 10 yards shorter than that.  Now that you have some pitching distances, remember that these distances are air-time! Depending on the hardness or softness of the green, you will know how far you want to fly the ball.  This will lower your scores faster than any other shot in the bag!

Thanks for watching - The Clock System - Short Game Saturday #26.  This is a big key to controlling the distances of your pitch shots.  Going by feel is too inconsistent.
