PGA Pro Joe Frederick gives you his ideas on good course management.  When to lay up and when to play safe is an important aspect of course management, so take note, and go out and improve your scores by learning from this great video!

In this episode of Bionic Hands on Golf Podcast we speak with PGA Pro Joe Frederick about understanding the basic fundamentals of course management.

Playing a shot into a green with a large pond in front gives Joe 3 options.

One, he can go for the green which is 180 yards away into a stiff breeze.  For a PGA player, not really a problem, but Joe might advise a higher handicap player to use the other two option.

Two, he can play to the right of the green.  This is a shorter carry over the water.  These is also a fairly large area to the right of the green where a slightly mishit shot will still be safe.  This will also leave an easy chip onto the green.

Option 3 would be to lay up short of the water and leave a simple pitch onto the green over the water.  This would be a good option if the lie was not great. This information will help with keeping your scores lower by playing smarter.
