Pre-Practice Warm Up - Fitness Friday #46.

Guest Fitness Instructor Mike Pedersen of Perform Better Golf demonstrates the importance of warming up your body before moving on to the hit balls' driving range. This is a routine I do myself before each round.

Here is Mike Pederson's Pre Round Warm-Up.

  1. Stand with a club in both hands and place it across your hips.  Squat down, and as you do so, raise your hands above your head.  This gets the heart rate up and the blood flowing throughout the body. 15 reps.
  2. Stand with a club in both hands and place it across your hips. Bend for the waist and try to touch the group with the shaft.  When you stand up, twist to the right.  Second rep, when you come up, you twist to the left.  15 reps.
  3. The second exercise progression is to come up and raise the arms to chest height and then twist.  Alternate to each side.  15 reps.
  4.  Hold the shaft with both hands out in front of you and swing back as if you are swinging a golf club.  Keep the lower body stable, and this then really mobilizes the glutes, hips, and lower back.  15 reps.

You're now ready to hit some balls to get ready for your round.  Your body is warm and supple.  Play well!
