David Olberding, Class A PGA Instructor with the Mel Sole Golf School, gives the correct iron setup's finer points.

By drawing a line of the ground with chalk spray, David has a line to guide him in the proper ball position.  Always about 2" inside the lead heel.  The stance is about shoulder-width apart. The lead foot should be flared outward about 30 degrees. This will allow for an easier hip rotation on the downswing.

Using an alignment stick and putting it extending all the way up from the club's grip will automatically force David to place the shaft at the correct angle at the address.  There should always be a forward shaft lean at the address to help simulate the position wanted at impact.  Keep both arms fairly straight, keeping a V with the forearms.  This is going to encourage a one-piece takeaway.

With the combination of the chalk line and the alignment stick, David has the Perfect Iron Setup!

If you would like to work with David, give him a call at one of the numbers listed above.
