On Thursdays, we talk about swing techniques and how learning good techniques will improve your golf game.

My lead instructor, David Olberding, and I perform a practice drill here, which cures the 'over the top' move that destroys many amateur swings.

There are two key components to improving your swing as quickly as possible.  One is to have a visual of what it is you are trying to accomplish.  You can achieve this by using some chalk spray to draw some lines on the ground to give an exaggerated view of the clubhead path.  Two would be to follow that painted line and exaggerate the swing.  Remember, what you think you are doing and actually doing are two completely different things.  Hence the exaggeration to speed up improvement.  While you are working on changes to your swing, don't worry too much about results.  Pay attention to the process, and realize that your body will try and fight you when you try and change existing habits.  Strong perseverance will always win in the end!
