In our Golf Video Blog series, I talk about playing a left-handed shot (for right-handed golfers.) We don't face this situation too often, but knowing what to do will help you escape, as it has saved me many times over the years!
I find the left-handed shot a whole lot of fun to practice. It always amazes people when I play this on the golf course and advance the ball down the fairway about 40 or 50 yards.
Take your Lob Wedge or Sand Wedge (because they have the biggest face) flip it over to get ready for the left-handed shot. Reverse your grip and try and create a straight line down the right arm and the shaft. Have one or two practice swings, keep the right arm straight, and this time swing all the way through. When I first tied this shot several years ago, I had to really concentrate on keeping my head perfectly still, or I would miss the ball completely. So I didn't get it right away. Now I can make decent contact most of the time. So don't be discouraged the first time you try this. Keep trying, and your body will adjust, and you'll be making good contact in no time at all!
