Due to Mel Sole being out of commission because of shoulder replacement surgery, David Olberding steps into the breach to help out with today's blog. David addresses Jason Day's situation on the 18th hole during the third round and the biggest mistake he made, which turned out into a quadruple bogey.  Check this out!

Playing golf in the south, you learn to play off pine straw!  This medium can be very slippery, and fortunately, the rules of golf allow for the removal of pine straw to play your shot.  Both around the ball and your feet.  Getting a good footing is important.  Jason Day found that out in the third round of the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. While attempting to hit the ball out of the trees with his second shot, his back foot slipped.  He, unfortunately, hit the ball away to the right and into more trouble.  If he had known the rule, he could have made himself a better stance.  And could have pulled the shot off.  It turned out that shot cost him the Championship!
