Today, I talk about some simple exercises that will help you increase your clubs' distance if done regularly!  Watch as David Olberding and I go through some simple stretching exercises you can do before a round to increase flexibility and give you a better shoulder turn right from the first tee!

This adds to our theme this week of "Power." in the golf game.  Adding power to your golf swing is never one thing.  Power in the golf swing comes from many power sources, all acting in perfect harmony to deliver the maximum speed of the club right at impact.  Rotational Power is one of those things.  So to teach yourself rotational power, do this drill daily.  It's not hard, needs no equipment, and only takes a few minutes.

The Rotational Jump.

Cross your arms across your chest and get into your golf posture.  Squat down slightly, and now jump as hard as you can and face the other way.  To do that, not only are you jumping upwards but also around, so you will feel that you have to push off with the inside of the rear foot to let your body rotate.  Do this three or four times.  Remember to do both sides.

Shoulder Turn with a Club.

Place a driver across the back of your shoulder. Make sure the club is across your back and not your neck.  Get into your golf posture.  Make a backswing shoulder turn, pointing to the club's end where the ball would normally be. Hold for 10 seconds.  Take a deep breath in and hold for another 10 seconds and then breathe out.  Make a bigger turn.  The breath allows the muscles to relax.  This will allow the shoulder to turn more.  Hold for 10 seconds.  Do this three or four times.  Remember to do both sides.
