Driving Accuracy - Trouble Shot Tuesday #60.

This week our theme is "Power" and how we can achieve more distance. Today we remind you that driving the ball straight is also just as important to stay out of trouble.
Backswing Coil.
To create a coil on the backswing, the lead arm has to be fairly straight. Not necessarily rigid, but not far off! Here is a test to see if you have the necessary coil to create power in your golf swing. Go to the top of your backswing and talk! Yes, talk! If you can talk in a normal voice, there is no coil. There must be some strain in your voice, indicating that you have created the necessary coil to un-wide the downswing with speed.
Downswing Hip Rotation.
To create that speed, there has to be a weight sift, moving the weight from the back foot to the lead foot, and then a really fast unwinding of the body. This is a move that you can never do too fast! The faster you unwind the hips, the faster your club will move through the impact zone! The further you'll hit the ball! However, if you also want to hit the ball straight, have a good extension and keep the clubhead moving towards the target as long as you can.
Use an alignment stick to give you feedback. Try to miss the alignment stick stuck in the ground about 3 feet in front of you and on your toe line. Now you have some power and some accuracy. Enjoy!
