Today we see a collaboration between Piers Ward, Andy Proudman of Meandmygolf, and Dave Phillips, co-founder of  Titleist Performance Institute.  Understanding hip rotation and firing your glutes!  Check it out!

Golf swing and fitness with TPI and Me and My Golf. Part 3. Piers and Andy are at the Titleist Performance Institute with Co-founder Dave Phillips and in this video, Dave takes Andy through his physical corrections and swing drills based on his physical screen and video analysis.

The focus in this video is the screening, evaluation and exercises that will help his body get into better shape to play better golf.  Hip Flexors are a big key in the golf swing, and being able to fire the glues at will.  laying on your back with your hands under your butt, and trying to fire one glute at a time.  If you can do that, fire both simultaniously.

Then stand up and see if you can fire your glutes standing up.  More difficult than laying down.  A good exersise is what is called Supported Stalk Turns.  Use a club out in front of you.  Raise one leg and wrap it around the back of the other knee.  Then try and rotate the hips bringing the knee around as far as you can.  Do both sides equally.

Another great glute activation move is just standing up and sitting down in a chair rapidly.  That move will really activate the glutes.  Do this before a round of golf to switch your glutes on!
