An incident happened in the Presidents Cup match between Jordan Spieth, Louis Oosthuizen, and Jason Day that give me fodder to improve your knowledge of the sometimes complicated Rules of Golf!

During the President Cup Matches, Jason Day and Louis Oosthuizen played Jordan Speith and partner (I cannot remember his partner). Jason Day had made birdie 4, and Louis Oosthuizen was off the back edge of this par 5 in two.  Jordan Spieth had a birdie putt from about 12 feet.  Louis chipped up, trying to hole the chip for the eagle, misses the hole, and while the ball is still in motion, Jordan picks up the ball and flings it back to Louis.  Jordan was basically giving Louis the birdie as his partner had already made 4.

However, by stopping a ball in motion, Jordan received a disqualification from the hole.  As Jordan's partner was out of the hole completely, he basically gave the hole to Louis and Jason.

Folks, remember, if a player stops a ball in motion, there is an immediate disqualification in match play and a two-stroke penalty in stroke play.  Know the rules. Lower your scores!
