I have done several tips on improving your feel for long putts. But no lesson can match the monster 102-foot putt that Jack Nicklaus sank while showing Johnny Miller how to putt from off the green. "There is no way you can putt this," is what Johnny Miller says. "Do you want me to come and show you how it's done?" says Jack, and then promptly and without much fanfare, slams the putt into the back of the hole! Now that is what I call "Rising to the Occasion!" Harbor Shores—the site of the Senior PGA Championship. In a course opening exhibition with Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Arnold Palmer and Johnny Miller, Jack showed Miller how to play the unique tiered 10th green at Harbor Shores.
Jack Nicklaus always had a flair for the dramatic! His superb 1 iron at Pebble, his monster putt on the 18th at Turnberry to make Watson think about his putt, and the memorable putt on the 17th green in the final round of the 1986 Masters! But this putt of 102 feet takes it all. The lead-up to the putt was just as dramatic.
