Influencing Your Subconscious Mind.

I will follow along as I explain how working in the conscious mind and doing the repetition will slowly move to the subconscious mind and become a permanent motion.

If you're like most golfers, you've learned that changing your golf swing isn't something that happens overnight. Even if you know what you need to do, getting your body to do it is another matter. That's because your swing is a series of habits that reside in the subconscious. To change your swing, you need to consciously undo the subconscious memory of your swing and store a new memory into your subconscious via repetition. While this isn't a shortcut to a better swing, understanding how the conscious and subconscious mind interacts with one another and learning to influence your subconscious will help you improve your mechanics and make you a better player mentally.

Step by Step Mode.

Whatever the change is needed in your golf swing, you need to break it down into a step-by-step mode. First, put your body in each correct position and hold it there for a few seconds.  Allow your body to feel these correct positions.  Do this movement twice without a ball before you, then do it with the ball in the same step-by-step protocol.

Continuous Mode.

Start to do the practice swings in one continuous motion.  However, make sure the body is going through the same position you did in the step-by-step mode.  After two practice swings without the ball, hit one shot with the ball.  Each shot is two practice swings and then a hit with a ball.

Full Swing Mode.

Now do two practice swings without the ball in the full swing mode again, attempting to move the body through the range of motion you did in the previous two drills.  When you hit the ball, swing as hard as you would swing on the golf course.  Understand that in the beginning, there is not going to be much of a change.  This will happen slowly over a period of time.  Usually between 4 and 6 weeks, depending on how much time you put into the drills. Once you understand how to Influence Your Subconscious via Your Conscious Mind, things will start to happen.  Stay the course.
