We are going to talk about generating power using the ground as a force!  When you take advantage of the ground force, you will learn to generate power that you didn't even know you had!

If you watch a baseball pitcher, he does that squat we are talking about.  He drops down and then pushes off with the rear leg to propel the ball towards the hitter.  Golf is the same.  Start with a slight downward movement where you are "sitting down" at the start of the downswing, and then push off with the lead leg as hard as possible to generate awesome power to the ball!

At Home.

To better understand this move, practice this at home without a ball.  It is a strange feeling at first if you have never done it before.  The ball complicates the issue. This is how I learned this shot.  At home, I took a club, went to the top of the backswing, did a small squat and slight weight shift.  From that position, I almost jumped through the rest of the swing.  Driving my legs and pushing my weight across and up! It felt like I was jumping at the ball.

This is the feel you are looking for at first.  As you make this move over and over, it starts to smooth out. Then take that move to the range with a ball.  At first, you will not hit ANY good shots.  I almost gave up, but I'm not that sort of guy.  Particularly when I knew what I was working on was correct.  After a couple of weeks on the range, I started to hit good shots.  The results were amazing!  The distance was almost instantaneous!  Never give up!
