Golf Video Blog by the Mel Sole Golf School.

Our golf video blog today is about improving your putting stroke.  Many amateurs have difficulty keeping both the putter head path moving through to the target and the putter face staying square to the follow-through target line.  By using a putting mirror, I give you a drill you can do at home.

The real secret to being a good putter is having a repetitive putting stroke.  There is nobody in the world who can make you do that.  It is the hours and hours of standing, hitting putts and seeing the ball go in the hole over and over that builds the confidence in the ability to hole putts!

Drill #1

Using the putting Mirror to ensure your posture is correct, set it about 5 to 6 feet away from the hole.  Take 6 balls, and your goal is to hole as many putts in a row as possible.  The first time you do it, do the drill for about 30 mins and count the highest number of putts you holed in a row.  This is your baseline.  The next time you practice your putting, you have to hole 1 more than your baseline.

Set yourself a time limit so that you're not there when the sun goes down.  But the moment you miss you have to start at one again.  Once you pass your baseline, you're finished.  The next time your baseline goes up by one over the new baseline.  Your goal is to get to 50 in a row.  (That might take a while) but once you can hole 50 in a row, you know for sure you have a repetitive putting stroke.  Something you'll never lose!
