This Weeks Quiz:

A player has to take a drop alongside a hazard. For example, he is dropping the ball onto a steep slope, and it is obvious that the ball, once it hits the ground, is going to roll into the hazard. So the player asks whether he can forgo the normal drop procedure and place the ball as he will have to do that anyway after 2 balls have rolled into the hazard.

This week, can he place the ball without doing the normal 2 drops, and if not, what is the penalty if he did so?  Answers to melsolegolf@gmail.com This is the only form of entry to our quiz.  The winner will receive a one-hour lesson at either the SC, NC, or NY locations.

Last Weeks Quiz:

Players A and B are partners in a four-ball competition.  After finishing the 4th hole, player B and their opponents walk to the 5th tee while player A continues to practice putting on the 4th green. Then, Player B tees off while player A is still putting.  Is there a penalty, and if so, what would the penalty be in both stroke and match play.

Last Week's answer:

In Match Play, player A gets disqualified on the 5th hole. As a result, Player B has to play their opponents on his own.  In Stroke Play, player A gets a 2 stroke penalty.

Last Week's Winner:

Glenn Wisse from New Philadelphia, OH, wins this week's quiz. This is the 4th or 5th time Glenn has won.  His was the first correct entry received last Wednesday.  Congratulations Glenn, I will look forward to helping you with your game the next time you are in Pawleys Island.
