Keys to choosing the correct putter.

Hi, I’m Mel Sole, Director of Instruction at the Mel Sole Golf School, headquartered at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club in Pawleys Island, SC.  We conduct 1, 2, and 3-day golf schools, hourly golf lessons, and senior golf schools—any golf instruction program your heart desires. Give us a call at 800-624-4653 or 843-237-4993.  We will be happy to book a commuter school or a package that contains accommodations, golf, and golf school.

Scotty Cameron is one of the most well-known putter makers in the world.  Working with Titleist,  Scotty Cameron putters are much sought after by PGA and LPGA Tour Players plus amateurs at all game levels.  What makes this man so special?  Here in this series of 4 videos presented by the Titleist, you will find out why choosing the correct putter is important.

1. Length.

Length can affect the eyes, which in turn affect alignment and path. Too long will cause you to stand upright and aim too far to the right.  Too short will make you crouch and aim too far to the left...

2. Shape

What fits your eye.  Is it a blade? A Mallet? A Hybrid of both?  Scotty Cameron has three different families of putters. All doing different things and saying different things.  Depending on what you are trying to do with the stroke, the length, and the weight.

3. Path

Lie creates an arc.  USGA says the putter must have at least a 10-degree lie angle. Even when you feel straight back and straight through, the putter will always arc.  The shorter the putt, the smaller the arc.

4. Toe Flow

Are you a straight-back straight-through putter, or do you like to see the toe pass the heel through impact?  There is a putter out there for you!
