Almost all high handicappers have one thing in common.  They lack body rotation through the ball, which automatically results in a poor extension through impact.  There is a direct correlation between the dreaded "chicken wing" and a poor body turn.  To understand the feeling of that important turn  Mike Perpich shows a simple way to get your body in the correct position.  Thanks to GOLF.com for sharing this video!

The Set-Up.

Go into your normal setup position.  Feet shoulder-width apart, arms hanging perpendicular to the ground from the shoulders.  Bend forward slightly from the waist.

The Drill.

Take the lower hand and let go of the club.  Let it hand down naturally. Next, take the other arm holding the club and extend it out in front of you, aka Babe Ruth pointing to the left-field wall.  Now, without moving your head, turn your body to a position where the lower hand retakes its correct position.  Do NOT allow the lead arm to bend! You will find that you now have all your weight on your front foot, and your arms are extended out in front of you.  Once you have done this a few times and your body understands the rotation and extension needed, do a few swings without a ball to get into the same position.  After that, introduce a ball but finish in the same position.  Then finally, progress to a full swing!
