Today I demonstrate that there is more than one way to work yourself around a tree.
There are several things I had to take into consideration before I went ahead and hit this shot.
The first thing to check is for roots around my ball. Because there are many roots in that area, I want to make sure I can hit this shot and not hit a root and either damage my club or, worst, damage myself!
The second thing would be my footing. Make sure all debris is clear. You can move any loose impediments, including grass, twigs, etc.
Thirdly, I want to check my follow-through to ensure my club will not hit the tree. In this case, I aimed more to the right and closed the clubface slightly to pull the ball back online.
When you play this shot, don't try to swing hard! You will have difficulty stopping the club, and you'll hit the tree. You can see I put a gentle swing on this shot. My goal is to get the ball back in play for my next shot. No miracle play here!
