How to Pack a Suitcase Efficiently for your next Golf Trip!

My wife starts planning her packing several days before we leave for a trip.  She puts items of clothing to one side (to make sure they are not worn before we leave) and she will systematically mark items off her travel list to make sure she does not leave anything behind.  I on the other hand, will pack an hour before I leave for the airport, throw things in a suitcase and inevitably arrive at my destination having forgotten several items.  Which one are you? Here is a really neat set of travel hacks brought to you by . . .

Golf announcers then and now! We have the Good, the Bad and the Ugly!

Over the years, as I have listened to golf broadcasts, and I, like everyone else, have picked out the golf announcers who I really like, and those I absolutely hate.  I won't mention the ones I hate but I absolutely loved Henry Longhurst and Peter Alliss.  These gentlemen loved the game and Peter was also a fantastic player.  Both had tremendous knowledge of the game and sprinkled their anecdotes throughout their broadcasts. Here are samples of announcers both good and bad who have graced the airwaves.  Thanks to Swing by Swing . . .

Meet the man who hits his hybrid 340 and his Driver 430 yards! Wow!

While playing on the South African Sunshine Tour back in the mid 60's I used a Persimmon Driver with a steel shaft.  I still managed to hit the ball around 300 yards. However, that is a far cry from today's power hitters who use specially prepared drivers made of Titanium, have wound graphite shafts and golf balls that not only travel at 260 feet per second (the legal limit) but have dimple designs that carry the ball further and further!

The Best and Prettiest Golf Swings. #2 is my favorite!

I always wanted to have one of the prettiest swings around!  When I was learning the game, I would get home from school and stand in the back yard and swing for hours trying to emulate Gary Player, who was my idol growing up!  Those hours of swinging stood me in good stead through the years.  Having a pretty swing does not necessarily translate into a good golfer, but boy it sure helps!

An inspirational story of overcoming a disability through golf!

This is a truly inspirational story that can teach us all a lesson in humility and graciousness! Take a look at Manuel De Los Santos, and watch him golf to forget his daily troubles, with the use of only one leg!  Most of us play golf to leave the problems and stress that affect our daily lives behind us.  He has turned a liability into an asset! Thank you, Manual for showing us the way, and thanks so much to golf.swingbyswing.com/ for this heart . . .

The more options you have in chipping, the better you will be!

The more ways you have to play a shot, the more successful you are going to be.  Don't limit yourself to chipping with just one club.  Go to the practice green with 5 or 6 different clubs and try them all.  You will become a better chipper.  Anika Sorenstam once said of Tiger Woods, "Tiger has more ways to hit a shot than anybody I have ever seen."  Rotaryswing.com shows another way to teach yourself to chip the ball.  Get out to the range today and try this . . .

Match a car to these PGA and LPGA players personalities! Love #4!

This is a fun article by Golf Swing by Swing to match up their personalities with current cars.  Every player on both the PGA and LPGA Tour has their own unique personality, so matching them up must have been a fun exercise.  I really like Rickie Fowler matching up with a Mustang - Boss 429.  Suits him perfectly!  What would you be?  My favorite car when I was younger was a Jaguar Mark 10.  Sleek and luxurious.  That's me!

The top 10 most overrated ideas in golf. #6 is my favorite!

When an inventor comes up with a new idea, they think "I will tell everyone about my new idea and they will all thank me for such a great invention!"   Unfortunately, not all inventions work out!  But if we didn't get these overrated ideas in golf, we would never get the great ideas.  So thank you to all the inventors/designers/swing gurus out there and thank you to Golf Swing by Swing for bringing us such an entertaining article!

Fantasy Character Roles from the PGA and LPGA Tours! I Love #2!

Golf Swing by Swing has put together 14 PGA and LPGA Tour players and linked them to a matching cartoon character.  We have all been linked to some cartoon or TV character in our lives either by friends or family.  Sometimes not so flattering, but still in jest!  I was once told I looked like James Coburn in "Our Man Flint"  Go figure!

Let me know who you thonk should also go on this list and their matching cartoon character!

An Inspiring Story that Proves You can do anything you put your mind to!

Nick James was born with Tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder that left him with no arms or legs.  And yet, he has accomplished more than most people with two arm and two legs have ever accomplished!  This is not a golf video (although these is one brief putt) but this is an inspiring story I would like to share with everyone who is struggling, not only with your golf game but life in general.  At home, at work, maybe things are not perfect.  And they never will be!  Perfection is what you make of it in your . . .
