Swinging the mid irons “On Plane” every time!

Many of the golfers I teach do not really know what "Swing Plane" means or how to accomplish it.  The easiest way for me to describe it can be found in a book I read when I was starting out called "The 5 Modern Fundamentals"  by Ben Hogan.  Hogan demonstrated that when the golf swing moved along that pane of glass on the backswing, and then slightly inside the pane on the downswing, your swing was 'on plane'. (or on pane, ha ha) This was a great visual aid to me in my early career.

Tom Watson’s Swing Secrets – How to use the Lower Body!

Tom Watson's golf swing has not changed his entire career.  Something Tiger Woods might have benefited from judging by his current state of affairs.  Tom really feels that the lower body position during the address sets up the opportunity to have a good backswing.  He talks about keeping "the crease" and if you lose that, you will be out of balance which results in a lot of inconsistent shots. Practice this movement in front of a mirror at home to fully understand exactly how the hips and spine angle work in conjunction with one another!

Todd Anderson shows a simple drill to keep your balance!

Sometimes it is the most simple drill that is the most effective.  Todd Anderson,  GOLF Magazine Top 100 Teacher shows you a drill on how you can learn to keep your balance.  There is a second benefit to this drill.  It really helps with allowing the hands to feel the release through the ball. Keep your grip pressure light and let the right hand cross over the left through impact.  This will help all of the golfers who have a tendency to slice.  Try this at home in your yard or on the range at the club.
