7 Reasons why Women should attend Demo Days. #7 is the most Fun!

It's true that more men attend Golf Demonstrations days, which are often set up by golf club manufacturers. But I highly recommend that women of all ages & skill levels check out these exhibitions, for tons of free info. Beginner golfers can watch demonstrations and then try out equipment themselves, before even buying a set of clubs. More seasoned golfers may be looking to upgrade some or all of their clubs, and Demo Days allow you to roam around for as long as you like, testing out the latest equipment . . .

Do weighted clubs improve clubhead speed?

Many golfers are under the illusion that swinging a weighted club ( or using one of those "donut rings")will help increase clubhead speed.  Research now shows this is a total misconception.  First using baseball as an example, and then using golf, science has proved without any doubt that feel and reality are two different things.

A former World Long Drive Champ Dave Mobley who is a friend of mine, swings the Orange Whip every day to help him create more club head speed.  "Swinging a . . .

Help for the Beginner Golfer! A Learners Guide. Episode 2!

Kathryn Newton, actor and SUPER golfer, is doing a great series for Golf Digest called "How to Golf."  Follow along as I post these videos to help you, the beginner golfer, gain more confidence in learning and playing the game.  This week's video discusses what to bring to the golf course, ready to play.  Of course, clubs and balls are a given, but dress code can vary from course to course, so do as Kathryn suggests in the video and . . .

A High Balance Point Shaft Will Definitely Help Your Game!

The latest trend on the PGA Tour is HBP driver shafts.  HBP stand for High Balance Point.  Why is this important, you ask?  Well, as manufacturers start to make driver heads with more adjustments, it also adds weight to the clubhead.  If the bottom of the club gets too heavy, then you will start to lose clubhead speed.  Enter the HBP driver shafts, which redistribute the weight more to the butt end of the shaft, thus lowering the weight at the bottom and increased clubhead speed will be the end result!  Your daily science lesson is now over!  Thanks . . .

When Rory McIlroy is testing new equipment, feel is everything!

How do PGA Tour players test out new equipment and how can this help you?  Well, for one thing, they test not only the putter, wedges, irons, fairway woods and driver, but the ball as well.  An all-around test is needed to make the player feel confident with every club in the bag and with the ball's performance off the clubface.  Most amateurs buy clubs off the rack.  That is the worst thing you can ever do!  Go to a demo day and test all the equipment and then go to a different company's demo . . .

The Hot List in Wedges! These are Beauties!

We have had Driver, Putters, Game Improvement Irons, Players Irons, Fairways Woods and Today the Wedges!  The scoring clubs!  Even if you only change out your irons every 4 or 5 years, if you are a regular player you should change your wedges once a year.  The grooves are critical on the wedges and worn grooves will inhibit performance.  So get ready view some great wedges that will make your head 'spin'!  Once again thank you so much to the learn about our VIP Program here »

Players Irons Hot List 2016!

Yesterday I posted the 2016 Hot List of Game Improvement Irons.  Irons that are designed to help the higher handicapper. Today we looked at the players irons!  Irons that are designed for the better player.  Golfers who are looking for feedback from miss-hit shots, but with a little bit of forgiveness built in.  This is a single digit handicapper's delight.  Thanks to Golf Digest Staff for their hard work in compiling all these Hot Lists, which really helps us in the purchase of our next set of clubs . . .

Game Improvement Irons Hot List 2016!

The words "Game Improvement Irons" are fairly new in the golf equipment industry. It means that these are the most forgiving and are made for the higher handicapper who tends to hit the ball all over the clubface.  These irons are designed with a high MOI (moment of inertia).  This basically means that off center hits will still go fairly straight and with a little more power than conventional irons.  If you have a high handicap and are in the market for a new set . . .

2016 PGA Merchandise Show was the Best Ever!

I have just returned from the PGA Merchandise Show at Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fl.  If ever you get an opportunity to go to this show, as a golfer you will be like a kid in a candy store!  I was fortunate to be invited to the "Top 100 Teachers Summit" 2 days prior to the start of the show, and it was inspiring to listen to the best minds in coaching talk about the future of the game.  Exciting times ahead!

Nike’s much anticipated Vapor Flex 440 Driver is here!

Here it is folks, Nike's new driver, which by all accounts is their most advanced driver yet.  Technology gets better and better and this club allows you to control the flight of the ball with just a simple adjustment.  You can decide to hit the ball lower, with less spin, for more distance, OR, hit the ball higher,  with slightly more spin, for more accuracy.  David Dusek of GolfWeek explains!

TaylorMade introduces the M2 line. Nice looking clubs!

TaylorMade clubs have certainly done a good marketing job with both their wood line and their irons.  They seem to come out with great clubs every year and each one is better  than the last. (or so they say).  I have to agree though, this line of M@ woods and irons certainly look sharp!  It will be up to you the consumer to make the final decision on whether these irons and woods have a place in your bag.
