This month’s video golf tip is geared towards golfers who live in the more north.  The season is now winding down. However, working on your golf swing over the winter will pay serious dividends to come next spring.  So join me to learn this quick and easy golf drill.  It will help you understand the finer points of weight shift through the golf swing.

Practice this for just 30 minutes a week. Then, you’ll have your golf buddies wondering how your game improved so much during the off-season!

What You’ll Need.

All you need is a ball similar to a soccer or basketball and either a wall to throw it against or another person to throw the ball back and forth.

The Drill.

Stand in your golfing posture with the arms hanging straight down and the ball held in both hands.  Swing back just like you were swinging a golf club.  Throw the ball against the wall.  Let it bounce once and catch it. Then, back into your posture and throw it again.  You will soon start to feel the hips initiate the start of this movement.  Once the weight is shifted to the front foot, the body rotates out of the way, and the arms go straight through to the target.

This is exactly the movement you are looking for in the golf swing.  Imagine that you had a golf club in your hands as you are doing this drill with the ball.  Picture the body and arms moving back and through, just like the golf swing. Then, when you head out to the range, mimic that “underhand throw” movement. Once you have mastered the Easy Golf Drill for Weight Transfer with your swing, you will see straighter shots with a lot more power in your golf swing!
