Monthly Golf Tips by the Mel Sole Golf School.

Who knew something so simple could be so effective? This month’s video golf tip was an accidental discovery. While helping a student with the Push Drill, Mel discovered that one small change to the putting stance can really help you hit straighter putts. Do you have 2 minutes to spare to improve your putting? Watch this video!

Pushing the putts.

If you have a tendency to push your putts, pull your back foot back a little.  You will see an almost immediate correction in the putter head path.  This is because when you pulled your back foot back, you also pulled the hip back.  This move automatically squared the shoulders and produced a straight back straight through putting stroke.

Pulling the Putts.

The Mirror.

Stand in front of a mirror with your putter.  Get into your putting stance as if you were putting towards the mirror.  If you can see your left and right shoulder, you have an “open” stance and you need to pull your back foot back to make the autocorrection.

If you can only see your left shoulder you need to pull your front foot back until you can barely see the other shoulder.  Now you too have a straight back straight through putting stroke in your future!
