Today we talk about the dreaded hip slide on the backswing.  Here is an easy way to get your backswing in the correct position to create maximum speed and power on the downswing.  Check it out!

The backswing pivot is similar to that of a baseball pitcher winding up.  He lifts his front leg and pivots onto his rear leg, allowing the rear hip to go behind him.  If he allowed the rear hip to slide, he would fall over!  No difference in the golf swing.  The rear hip moves directly behind, with the weight still moving onto the rear leg.  Practice this move at home. Preferably in front of a mirror so you can see that rear hip.  Imagine standing inside a barrel.  On the backswing, the hips will stay inside the barrel. The lead ship will burst through the barrel on the downswing as the weight and body rotation moves forward. All the weight will finish on the front foot.

Work on this move to increase the backswing coil and more acceleration through the ball!
