Today I will discuss how to handle a short pitch shot when dealing with fluffy lies in the rough.  A great way to save strokes around the green!

I have 3 shots here and the most dangerous one is the one that is sitting up nicely!  Please pay attention to this shot when you have a lie like this on the course.  If you take your lob wedge and open the face, you could slide right under this shot and the ball will go nowhere!  Keep the clubface square, and hover the club level with the ball so you can make solid contact.  The loft on the club will get it up in the air, and the ball will land nicely and softly.

When the ball is sitting right down in the grass, you have to be a little more aggressive.  Open the clubface and make a nice aggressive swing, making sure to let the club go all the way through.

The final shot with a regular lie, I will play a regular pitch shot.  Don’t overcomplicate it.

There you have 3 lies and 3 shots that you can play to lower your scores.
