On Fridays, we bring you fitness, stretching, and strengthening that will make a significant difference to your golf game.  The PGA Tour’s fitness regimen has ramped up significantly in the last few years as players realize that they need to have a body that supports the tremendous swing speed they are generating to compete at the highest level.  However, this is not the case for the average golfer, so lesser workouts will still make a huge difference.  My goal with the next few Fitness Friday Video Blogs is to show my audience how they can work out at home.  With the use of minimal and inexpensive equipment.

Here are the pieces of equipment I use in my home gym, a description, and the approximate price I paid

TRX Straps.

TRX is a form of suspension training that uses bodyweight exercises to simultaneously develop strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability. … It requires using the TRX Suspension Trainer, a performance training tool that leverages gravity and the user’s body weight to complete the exercises. Pilates Ring. 

Pilates is one of the best ways to strengthen your body while simultaneously promoting proper posture. This trendy form of exercise has expanded to include the pilates ring, a resistance device that focuses on toning your body gently over time. My Cost $20.00

Swiss Ball.

The physical object, known as a “Swiss Ball,” was developed in 1963 by Aquilino Cosani, an Italian plastics manufacturer. … The term “Swiss Ball” was used when American physical therapists began to use those techniques in North America after witnessing their benefits in Switzerland. My Cost $30.00

Yoga Blocks.

Made from foam, bamboo, wood, or cork, the block is often used as an extension of the arms but can also support the back, head, and hips to help the body settle into a pose. My Cost $10.00


Rebounding can help work the muscles in the legs, increase your endurance, and strengthen your bones, among several other benefits. This type of exercise is gaining popularity because it’s gentle on the joints but allows you to work your cardiovascular system without taxing the body.  My Cost $500.00

Medicine Balls.

It is just heavy enough to provide resistance but not so heavy as to alter the selected movement’s structure and speed. 4lb, 5lb, and up to 20lb medicine balls can work for participants. Even though the resistance is the same, the velocity will increase with the participant’s strength, size, and power.  My Cost $40.00


Your dumbbell weight requirements will depend on why you’re strength-training — whether you’re lifting weights for increased strength and endurance, for example, or power. Women lifting to increase muscle mass can use free weights between 5 and 8 pounds, while men can use 8- to 10-pound dumbbells to start.  My Cost $20.00

Foam Roller.

Foam rolling is a self-myofascial release (SMR) technique. It can help relieve muscle tightness, soreness, and inflammation and increase your joint range of motion. Foam rolling can be an effective tool to add to your warm-up or cooldown before and after exercise.  My Cost $7.00

The total cost of this equipment (excluding the Rebounder) is $167.00. Quite inexpensive for a well-equipped home gym!
