History was made again this week on the LPGA Tour!

Today is April 30th, 2018 and we present History was made again this week on the LPGA Tour! Monday Rewind #86.  A Golf Video Blog with Mel Sole, Director of Instruction and Master Professional at the Mel Sole Golf School headquartered at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club in Pawleys Island, SC.

History was made again this week on the LPGA Tour!

Once again history was made this week on the LPGA Tour when Lydia Ko became the youngest player in LPGA Tour history to win 15 tournaments.  A record formerly held by the great Nancy Lopez.  It is really nice to see Lydia playing the kind of golf she is capable of.  With several caddie changes, plus coaching which involved swing changes, her game has been a mess the last couple of years. Welcone back!

It was also really good to see Minjee Lee and Jessica Korda finish tied for 3rd to keep the American Flag close to the top.  The American woman players have really been playing well this year.  Keep it up!

PGA Tour.

Billy Horschel and Scott Piercy won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans by one over Pat Perez and Jason Duffner.  Billy and Scott birdied the 10th, 11th and 12th and then parred home to make it tight at the end.  Fellow South African Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen came up two short to finish in third.  I enjoyed the new format and it looks like Billy doesn’t mind either.  He won this tournament in 2013, he followed this up with 3 more wins and now this one makes 5!  Well played both of you!

European Tour.

Alexander Bjork of Sweden won his maiden European Tour victory shooting a final round 65 for a one-shot victory in the Volvo China Open at Topwin Golf & CC in Beijing, China.  He beat Spaniard Adrian Otaegui by one and another Spaniard Jorge Campillo by two.

Next week.

The PGA Tour heads to Charlotte, NC for the Wells Fargo Championship.  Tiger Woods, Phil Michelson and Rory McIlroy head that impressive field.

LPGA Tour moves to The Colony, TX for the Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic

European Tour goes to the UK to play in a team event.  The Golf Sixers and the Centurian Club in St Albans.

The PGA Champions heads to The Woodlands CC,  The Woodlands,  TX for the Insperity Invitational.
