Make Practice Fun in '22!

Hi, I’m Mel Sole, Director of Instruction at the Mel Sole Golf School, headquartered at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club in Pawleys Island, SC.  We conduct 1, 2, and 3-day golf schools, hourly golf lessons, and senior golf schools—any golf instruction program your heart desires. Give us a call at 800-624-4653 or 843-237-4993.  We will be happy to book a commuter school or a package that contains accommodations, golf, and golf school.

Most golfers can hook and slice.  The trouble is they do it when they don't want to! Make Practice Fun in '22! Let this be the year of going to the range and after hitting a few shots with your regular swing, start learning to draw and fade the ball at will!  In the video, I describe how to hit a low draw and a high fade.  Also, a low straight low shot is needed to thread yourself through some trees.  By practicing these shots, you will gain the confidence to hit them on the course and at the same time have some fun on the range.  If you practice with a spouse or a friend, have a friendly competition to see who can pull off shots that you call before you hit.

I have done this my whole career and really enjoy my practice sessions.  Remember, always have a target, so that while the ball is curving, it is curving towards the target.  Make Practice Fun in '22!

If you are having trouble learning these shots, go and see your local teaching professional who will be able to help you.  You can look forward to your handicap coming down and your enjoyment going up!  Have a great 2022!
