Save your Skin! Sun Sleeves for Golf.

I have just had dinner with a good friend who got 'zapped' at the dermatologist AGAIN for pre-cancerous lesions on arms, hands and face.  I personally hate wearing sunscreen that is bought in supermarkets and pharmacies.  If you are going to wear sunscreen, use the brand that has zinc oxide in it.  That is the most effective and if bought from your local Health Store, is most probably additive and chemical free.  My own experiences are similar, especially as a long-time club Pro in South Africa, in the years before sunblock products were deemed necessary, I have . . .

Smile a little Smile for me! Your chuckle for the day!

Sometimes we take this game of golf too seriously, and these pictures and captions make us realize that we play the game for recreation and fun.  Here are a few golf memes to put a smile on your face before you go out to play this weekend. So when you round is not going as expected, think of one of these quotes and SMILE!  You need your chuckle for the day!

Meme: an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture.

The Best and Worst Golf Songs in History! #3 is my Favorite!

If you are a golfer you will appreciate the words to some of these songs, as we all want to be "Straight Down the Middle", "Hit it Hard", and the humor in Peter Jacobson's "Love the one you Whiff"  Of course I won't even mention the Top 5 Worst golf songs, (but you can check them out at the bottom of the page) and hopefully we won't have to listen to them anytime soon!  Golf songs in this list will not make the hit parade.  Thanks to learn about our VIP Program here »

Does God favor one competitor over another? Why do some thank him for their victory?

Many professional athletes, from boxers to golfers thank God during interviews, after their wins.

When Zach Johnson, a deeply religious professional golfer, gave an emotional speech following the 2015 British Open, he said he felt patience and had “some scripture going in his head.” He thanked the Lord, plus family and friends.

But this is not a new practice as many believe it to be. In 1953, just after the incredible Ben Hogan won the US Open, he was interviewed in USGA Journal and Turf Management magazine. He credited his wife Valerie and added, “But . . .

Want to play golf more often? Here are 20 great excuses!

I have a friend in South Africa who had written into his marriage contract that he could golf twice a week!  Now that is a keen golfer!  As a professional golfer, I have never had to think up excuses to go and play golf.  My wife understands that it is my profession and most of the time my rounds are with students, whether it is a playing lesson or just a friendly round.   Swing by Swing brings us the top 20 excuses to be out playing the . . .

Have you ever played with a cheater. 10 signs to watch for!

Have you ever played with a person who never seems to lose a ball on the course?  "Here it is" is heard often from these folks.  Sadly I have played with a few in my life as a professional golfer, and rather than get into a confrontation with this type of golfer, just ignore them, and make sure you never play with them again!  If you are playing for money, and you have undeniable proof that they are cheating, that's the only time to bring something up.  Stay away from cheaters, they are not worth the time . . .

Golf is the Game of a Lifetime!

Golf is a game that can be played from as young as 3 years old, to as old as 100!  I don't know of any other sport that can claim that.  Golf is the game of a lifetime.  Surreal at times, slamming us down to earth on others!  But one thing is for sure, we all absolutely, without concession, love this game to bits!  We will stand on the range in 100-degree heat or 40-degree cold and bang away, hoping to find lightning in a bottle!  Sometimes we go . . .

Have you ever heard of the Mediocre Golf Association? Neither had I!

This group of fun, but not highly skilled golfers, formed the MGA in San Francisco in 2006. It is now a global operation with 1,200 members (and growing) in four countries. Wow! The handicapping system they use penalizes good players (anyone with an index lower than 18), instead of giving strokes to poor players. The winner of a Mediocre Golf Assoc'n tournament will not be a sandbagger and should turn in a “truly so-so performance.” No scores lower than 80 are allowed!

Update: Bring your . . .

Fantasy Character Roles from the PGA and LPGA Tours! I Love #2!

Golf Swing by Swing has put together 14 PGA and LPGA Tour players and linked them to a matching cartoon character.  We have all been linked to some cartoon or TV character in our lives either by friends or family.  Sometimes not so flattering, but still in jest!  I was once told I looked like James Coburn in "Our Man Flint"  Go figure!

Let me know who you thonk should also go on this list and their matching cartoon character!

Have you ever . . .
